DESCRIPTION:  The James C. Kennedy Waterfowl and Wetlands Conservation Center at Clemson University is recruiting a highly motivated biologist interested in wetland and waterfowl research, management, and outreach. This position will entail the rigorous identification, pursuit, and obtaining of external research, education, and outreach grants or contracts related to waterfowl ecology, wetlands ecology, and other wetland-wildlife topics. The ideal candidate should have a broad professional network of contacts, be familiar with wetlands, waterfowl, and other wetland-dependent wildlife issues along the southeastern U.S. coast, be able to identify and apply for funding opportunities and grants in these fields under strict deadlines, and help manage the projects when awarded. Incumbent will train students, ensure quality control in data collection protocols, and participate in field and laboratory data collection as needed. The candidate will be able to contribute to the scientific literature and management of waterfowl populations in a highly dynamic collaborative work environment.

The position is budgeted for 1 year (and the possibility for a second), with the expectation that the position will become self-sufficient after that time.

QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. required and M.S. preferred in Wildlife Ecology, Wetlands, or related field. Strong writing skills are a must. Previous experience and success with writing and obtaining competitive grants are highly desired. Ideal candidates are intellectually curious, creative, strong communicators, highly organized, able to meet short deadlines, and efficient multitaskers. A valid driver’s license is required. SALARY: $37,900 to $50,000/year plus benefits.
