The Pocono Lake Ecological Observatory Network (PLEON) is Lacawac Sanctuary’s lake monitoring program, focused on water quality research, public education, and lake stewardship—including a community-led monitoring effort on Lake Wallenpaupack.
PLEON is seeking an undergraduate intern to assist with field sampling, sample processing, laboratory analysis, and data management, and to help lead the Lake Wallenpaupack Community-led Water Quality Monitoring Program by supporting trainings, assembling sampling kits, and working with citizen science samples.
This is a hands-on summer internship (20–30 hours/week, some weekends) with outdoor work in varied conditions. A modest stipend and free housing are provided. Dates: May 18–August 14, 2026 (negotiable).
To apply: Email an application form, resume, and unofficial transcripts to Theresa Black at theresa.black@lacawac.org with the subject line “2026 PLEON Internship.” Review begins February 16, 2026.
