Cloudbridge Nature Reserve

Located next to Chirripó National Park in the Talamanca mountains of Southern Costa Rica, Cloudbridge Nature Reserve is a private, non-profit cloudforest reserve that was created in 2002 for the purpose of Conservation, Education and Research.  Beginning with the purchase of degraded farmland, Cloudbridge has been able to actively reforest or naturally regenerate 255 hectares in addition to protecting 28 hectares of mature old-growth forest. The astounding biodiversity of the tropical cloud forest and the breathtaking natural beauty of the mountain environment make for a truly unique and enjoyable Biological Field Station.

Researchers from Costa Rica and around the world have come to study the biodiversity and ecology of this unique ecosystem, and the supportive learning environment combine with our excellent facilities and access to naturally regenerated, planted and old-growth and primary forest types to provide top-notch research or volunteer opportunities to our program participants.

Cloudbridge is also happy to receive study abroad groups for shorter experiential learning programs, and we have successfully hosted various specialty field courses with experts in topics such as Tropical Dendrology, Climate Change Education or Geographic Information Systems.  Parts of the trail system are open to the general public, and Costa Ricans and tourists alike enjoy spending time in nature and enjoying the spectacular waterfalls to be found in the crystalline waters of the Chirripó Pacífico River.
