Summer Courses Are Open at Highlands Biological Station!

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with our friends at Highlands Biological Foundation and beyond — registration is now open for our upcoming summer courses at Highlands Biological Station!

Each summer, HBS welcomes students, naturalists, artists, educators, and lifelong learners from across the country for immersive, field-based courses in the heart of the Southern Appalachians. Our offerings blend rigorous science, hands-on learning, and deep connection to place — and this year’s lineup is shaping up to be especially inspiring.

You’ll find a wonderful mix of tried-and-true mainstays (beloved courses that return year after year because of their lasting impact) alongside brand-new offerings that explore emerging questions, fresh perspectives, and exciting disciplines. From botany and wildlife ecology to conservation biology, natural history, and beyond, there’s truly something for everyone.

Whether you’re looking to build professional skills, pursue academic credit, or simply spend time learning in one of the most biologically rich regions in North America, we invite you to take a look at what’s available.
