Since 1909, Iowa Lakeside Laboratory has provided opportunities for field researchers, students, and members of the community to study “nature in nature.” Founded by Dr. Thomas MacBride, Iowa’s only ecological field station serves as the home for the North American Diatoms field research workshop for more than 60 years, and is home to the Cooperative Lakes Area Monitoring Project (CLAMP), one of the longest-running citizen science water quality initiatives in North America.
